Spain grows a lot of Garnacha- in fact, many grape experts believe that Grenache/Garnacha originated in Spain, not France. Interestingly, it is also grown on the isle of Sardinia (under the alternate name of Cannonau), and is thought to have been imported there during the period of Spanish rule of the island. The true home of Garnacha may just be Aragón in Spain, which is the place of origin of this delicious dry but smooth red. Campo de Borja is a great source of Garnacha wines, and it probably has something to do with the vineyard elevation: in this case, the vines are grown at 1150-2300 feet ASL.
